Amsterdam Indie Eyewear brand Moby Dick is on the roll! The founders and surfers Tim Holland and Robbert Wefers-Bettink share their passions for surfing, sailing and sustainable quality. They kind of like plastic but the got annoyed by the enormous amount of plastic bobbing around in the sea. So they decided that plastic needed a better use. In 2014 they introduced their bio-acetate collection of sunglasses. Recycling plastic isn’t that easy as it sounds. You can’t melt down any type of plastic, so in order to collect the specific type of plastic, they teamed up with the Surfrider Foundation, TerraCycle and Mazzuccheli to process the plastic into high quality glasses. Mazzuccheli is the worldwide leader in the manufacturing of acetate. What Dick Moby likes is that their research and development departement shares their vision for a sustainable future withoutSo they decided that plastic needed a better use. In 2014 they introduced their bio-acetate collection of sunglasses.
And now they have launched a new hip collection of glasses for everyday reading or behind your computer screen. Made of recycled plastic and biodegradable acetate, so in case you lose them you don’t have to worry about the environment too much.
