Nico (born Christa Päffgen, 1938) was a German singer-songwriter, actress and model that ended up through Andy Warhol as ‘chanteuse’ in the rock band The Velvet Underground. Her tall figure and her unique heavy, low voice impressed the art – and fashion scene of the 60’s. The band became famous and their album The Velvet Underground & Nico is one of the all-time most influential albums.
Was Nico able to break away from the image of superstar which Warhol created her?

Directed by Sytske van der Ster are musician Helge Slikker and actress Jolanda van den Berg looking the femme fatale deeper in the eyes and bring her and her unruly black romantic ideas back to life. With lots of music, hits from the Velvet Underground and her own music, because that was the whole point; being a musician.
